Aula Magna is an electronic music record label born from a long-time running audiovisual collective based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Founded by Seph, Pablo Denegri, Qik and Mekas, the label is a platform for forward looking techno and sound experiments.

▬ SEPH (Dumb-Unit, Harry Klein, City Fox Aula Magna Rec.) ▬

Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sebastian Galante started to study music by playing the piano and percussion at the age of 7. As a young teenager he moves to Norwich, England, and starts to compose simple piano pieces (with an aleatoric improvisation approach), whilst developing his love for urban and dance beats. In 2004, influenced by composers of varied musical areas (from Erik Satie, Kraftwerk and John Cage to Michael Jackson, Bjork and Plastikman) he dives into producing deep and funky minimal techno and electronica.

In 2004 he becomes an electronic arts student, and, with 19 years of age, Seph’s debut ep “Goust” is released on Igloo-rec and he becomes one of the label’s main faces. He starts to get recognized for his up to 4-hour live sets, playing alongside friends such as Barem, Dilo, etc., and forms an audiovisual duo with Pablo Denegri. 2006 sees him participating in various compilations that group the new argentinean generation of minimal techno artists, such as Post Office Argentina Madness (Telegraph). During the same year he starts to form numerous collaboration projects with Jorge Savoretti, Pablo Denegri and Dilo. After releasing on a wide array of labels like Stock5, Kalimari, Phonocult, 11AM and having tracks included in compilations mixed by DJs like Jeremy Caulfield and Ellen Allien, he makes the label Dumb Unit his homebase, with releases such as his Vodkrens EP and the 2010 critically acclamied debut album Alquimia, putting on the table his mysterious and IDM-driven vision of techno.

During late 2011 and early 2012, Seph releases a few 12″ on Cityfox and Harry Klein Records, as well as remixes on various labels from France (Coton Tige), Australia (Open Records) and Serbia (Genesa), topping it off with a solid place on Dumb-Unit’s Dynasty Series, collaborating with Jeremy P. Caulfield. Today he focuses on his own label, Aula Magna Records, created with fellow techno-heads Pablo Denegri, Mekas and Qik. A platform for their own electronic obsessions, the first records will be out in mid-2012, setting an initial dub techno stage and moving onto more experimental and noise-driven projects.

Seph has made live shows all over the world in clubs and events such as Cocoliche (Buenos Aires), Fabric (London), Arma17 (Moscow), Harry Klein (Munich), Fuse (Brussels), City Fox (Zurich), Flex (Vienna), Watergate (Berlin), D-Edge (Sao Paolo), Kazantip Festival (Ukraine), Mutek (Buenos Aires) Minitek (New York), SAMC (Buenos Aires), Lantern (Beijing) and Earth Freq (Brisbane, Australia).

▬ PABLO DENEGRI (Klectik, Monocline, Aula Magna Rec.) ▬

One of the main faces of Argentina’s rising techno scene of promising young artists is Pablo Denegri from Buenos Aires. Growing up to the sounds of 80′s and 90′s electronic pop music and having created in 2004 the audio and visual collective “Tekhne” alongside Barem and Qik, his career as an audiovisual artist has been an active one. He has performed at many important techno and electronic art festivals such
as Mutek and Creamfields and OneDotZero.

Throughout the years, Pablo developed a distinguished style in deep minimal, techno and house.
His first audio live performance was at Mutek Buenos Aires in 2007 and from then on he started releasing on labels such as Dumb Unit (Germany), Igloo-rec (Argentina),
Unfoundsound (US) and Einmaleins (Germany), among others.
Pablo has gained a considerable amount of respect after two releases with Seph on Dumb Unit, his dub duet with Mekas and his Koboldmaki Dreams EP remixed by Barem.

2011 saw the release of “Tonight was…”, his debut album on
Unfoundsound, his participation on the Dumb Unit Anniversary “Dynasty” series released on Vinyl, CD and Mp3, and the latest addition to his
discography: “The Fall”, his first solo vynil EP on the Chicago basedlabel Klectik.

▬ QIK (Monocline, Igloo-rec, Aula Magna Rec.) ▬

Having been involved with synthesizers and samplers in many musical projects, QiK began producing and playing techno music in 2003 when he got into the minimal sound.

In 2004 he founded the experimental audiovisual collective Tekhnë alongside Barem, Pablo Denegri, Milena Pafundi and Mekas. Performing in small clubs, art galleries and experimental events, the group was a platform for developing ideas on live A/V performing: real improvisation over digital noise textures, unconventional beats, and abstract video loops.

During 2006, he released his first ep, on the prestigious argentine label Igloo-rec, with Butane, Function and Dilo as remixers. Since then, QiK´s works have appeared in labels such as Dumb Unit, Esperanza Records, Bar 25, Der Hut and Monocline. Today he works in Aula Magna, an experimental techno label founded by Pablo Denegri, Mekas, Seph and himself.

▬ MEKAS (Igloo-rec, Genesa Rec, Aula Magna Rec.) ▬

Juan Tomás Roselló started off his techno career working with Pablo Denegri, Enrique Casal a.k.a. Qik and Milena Pafundi on the audiovisual experiment TEKHNE, performing his live act in various clubs and events in Buenos Aires.

Since his debut the “Luciernagas” EP in 2007 on Igloo-rec he has released and collaborated with labels like Der Hut, Monocline Records, Esperanza, Silent Steps, Genesa, Par Wax, among others. Sharing booth with artists like Appleblim, Seph, Papol, Nico Purman, Pfirter, Jonas Kopp, Dilo, he has performed his live set in various clubs, festivals and diverse stages of Buenos Aires such as Cocoliche, the Airdrop parties, Levitar, Ups, One Dot Zero Festival, Fuga Oceanica.

The CD release of his “Chakal” album with Pablo Denegri made 2011 an exciting year of his career, in which he also made his Live debut in Sao Pablo, Berlin and Hamburg. Today he focuses on Aula Magna Records, the label he has created with Seph, Pablo Denegri and Qik which will feature their own experimental and dub techno sound.
